Christine Zito is an illustrator and printmaker currently based in Baltimore, Maryland pursuing her Bachelors of Fine Arts for Illustration (with a concentration in Printmaking) at Maryland Institute College of Art. Her artistic journey began with a deep love for music, especially folk and punk genres. Christine found her artistic voice by creating illustrations for local musicians in her community. This experience led to her involvement with community organizations focused on equality and justice. Those engagements shaped her artistic perspective and continue to influence her work. Before diving headfirst into the world of illustration, she managed a variety of art material stores. This experience sparked her passion for medium exploration and play. She also worked in the Children's department of the public library and as a private senior caregiver. Both of these professions showed her firsthand the profound impact that art and storytelling can have on people's lives. Witnessing the fusion of art and narrative bring joy, comfort, and connection to both children and seniors reinforced her belief in the power of creativity. As she continued to explore her art, she was introduced to the world of printmaking. The tactile and unpredictable nature of printmaking captured her heart. She found great joy in engaging with this process, creating multi-layered pieces that come alive through texture and depth. Although printmaking remains a fundamental part of her artistic practice, she embraces the versatility of both traditional and digital mediums in her illustrations. Through a fusion of illustration and printmaking, she crafts visually compelling narratives that invite viewers to embark on their own imaginative journeys!
